Custom Cut Rubber Parts: CRGI adds to CNC Capabilities

Canada Rubber Group Inc. (CRGI) is pleased to announce that it has extended its CNC manufacturing capabilities with the introduction of a new Atom Flashcut Twins onto its shop floor. This new equipment expands CRGI’s already extensive base of CNC cutting technologies which are used to fabricate custom cut rubber parts for customers in a wide variety of industries.

With the Atom Flashcut Twins and its other CNC equipment, CRGI is able to custom cut rubber parts quickly and easily. Equipped with a modular head and two independent vertical axes slots which allows for sequential working, the Flashcut Twins allows the equipment operator to select from a wide range of cutting, creasing, marking and punching tools. The overhead projection system permits short-run jobs to be easily and quickly laid out on remnant material, thereby improving material yields and reducing scrap and waste.

“With our new Flashcut Twins machine, CRGI extends and deepens its CNC cutting and production capabilities for customers,” notes CRGI Operations Manager, Guillermo Cardoso. “As a leading provider of custom cut rubber parts, it is important for us to stay current with technology and continue to add value through high quality and fast order turnarounds.”

CRGI is a leading provider of custom cut rubber parts. While many parts are cut from rubber sheet, CRGI is also adept at cutting parts from a variety of specialty materials, including silicones, foam and sponge, cork, fiber, felt, ceramic paper, laminated foils, transparent conductive films, and the like.

Flash cutting lowers the production cost per part and accelerates the production process by eliminating the need to wait for tooling. The speed of flash cutting means that the time-to-market from design through to prototype and production part can be greatly compressed and shortened – a great benefit for those customers who need fast order turnaround.

“Flash cut parts have clean edges and lack the concavity that one sees with traditional die cutting,” says Cardoso. “The process efficiency and material yields one gets with flash cutting are far superior to that obtainable with traditional die cutting. Our customers can enjoy a more seamless experience with CRGI since customer-supplied drawings can be uploaded directly onto the equipment. Finally, the speed of flash cutting makes it very useful for rapid prototyping, as well as short-run production where the order quantities tend to be smaller.”

Custom cut rubber parts that CRGI can supply include the following:

  • Gaskets and seals

  • NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) products, including isolators and dampeners

  • Diaphragms

  • EMI/RFI shielding parts and components

  • Custom shapes and parts, including oversize gaskets

  • Equipment parts, including wear-resistant lining and skirting

  • Precision-cut parts for industrial and automotive applications
