Floating Floors: Changing the Industry

FloatMax Systems Inc. launches another innovative flooring solution with the support of CRGI manufacturing

FloatMax Systems Inc. has recently launched a new flooring solution that may revolutionize the way floating floors are installed.

What are Floating Floors?

“Floating” refers to flooring that does not require fastening to the sub-floor for installation. This means that a floating floor can be installed relatively quickly on top of an existing flooring surface without the use of glue, nails or screws. Using traditional installation methods, installers have been limited to the types of flooring materials that can be used for floating floors. These materials have included wood and laminates that typically feature interlocking systems to hold the floating floor in place. Now, through the use of Floatmax Systems, installers are able to use vinyl, linoleum, rubber, and carpet tiles as floating floor coverings.

What is the FloatMax product and how does is work?

The FloatMax System introduces a patented coated polyester high-temperature silicone tape (FloatMax Tape) which bonds the seams of vinyl or carpet tiles, allowing these materials to be installed as a floating floor. From vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl tiles and planks, carpet tiles and rubber, FloatMax is designed to be the system that holds the floating floor substrate together.

Advantages of the FloatMax System

No matter whether the flooring project is a small home, do-it-yourself flooring, or large commercial installation, FloatMax offers the following advantages:

Installation Time, Cost and Burden

To date, the FloatMax System has installed thousands of square yards of flooring in the past three years. The FloatMax system eliminates the need for polymers and bonding agents to achieve sub-floor adhesion, thus saving installation time. In addition, because FloatMax allows a floating floor to be laid over the existing sub-floor, there is no need uninstall or lift the existing floor material. The result is a significant reduction in time and costs.

Versatility

Using Floatmax, installers can use a wider range of flooring materials for floating floor applications, including materials made from vinyl, jute, rubber, foam, fiberglass and felt.

Lasting Durability

Floatmax employs an advanced polyester silicone tape that bonds to the most difficult surfaces over a wide range of temperatures. The tape is resistant to tearing and puncturing, as well as possessing a low shrinkage factor which ensures a durable, high-strength bond.

FloatMax and CRGI

As FloatMax’s manufacturing partner, CRGI is pleased to bring its manufacturing prowess to bear on the production of FloatMax Tape. “We are extremely pleased to be the manufacturing partner for FloatMax,” says CRGI president Gord Sirrs. “FloatMax is a truly innovative method for laying floating floors that will save installers and homeowners significant time and money. CRGI is always looking for innovative ways to extend our manufacturing competency into new products and applications.”

To produce FloatMax Tape, CRGI combines its advanced production cutting capabilities with the latest generation materials to produce a product that is the leader in its field. FloatMax Tape is an eco-friendly polyester silicone product that guarantees top-quality adhesion in high temperature applications, and is also an ideal choice for areas with high humidity or moisture issues.
